Terms

Haunt
I may refer to this project as the Haunt. It means the Set and Set Location with Props and Effects.
Event
These are the days the Haunt is shown, publicly or privately. Generally that will be the month of October, 2027
These are the actual days we are open - may be weekends only for the public plus a few other special nights, TBD.
Set
The Set is our entire property excluding the house we live in and our backyard. It includes the House, the Cemetery, the Boulevard, the Driveway, etc.
Cemetery
The artificial grass area in front of our house. It should have the House to the back of it and be enclosed with a fence and have a gate at the driveway.
Driveway
This is our driveway in front of our garage.
Boulevard
The dirt area between the sidewalk and the street.
House
Haunted House
Facade
Exterior
The Haunted House facade that faces the cemetery and street and also the North side that faces our neighbors and also includes structurally the "box" that's behind the facade that contains the "Interior"
Interior
Box
The inside of the Haunted House, which will be behind the facade and will be where guests can walk around and feel like they're on the inside of the Haunted House
Bar
The hidden bar behind the "box" interior that's physically on our left side yard.
Backstage
Anywhere behind the facade that's not inside the "box"
Props
An item we built that sits or exists somewhere in the Set. It may or may not move. There may or may not be multiple of them.
FX
An effect - could be audio, video, lighting, animation, mechanical, etc. It may be in a prop or around multiple props etc.
Backstory
This is the all-important "story" of the Haunt. It answers the questions "Why is this house haunted?", "Why is it interesting that this house is haunted?", "Why should guests care that this house is haunted?", "Where is this House? and "When was this House haunted, and is that time now or is it some other time now? It's important to know that the backstory is the entire story that we the Crew know, but we may only tell bits and pieces of the backstory to the guests. This is so that as we add things to the Haunt, that there's a full story that they must conform to. It's like knowing that Luke is Leia's sister before writing Star Wars and having him kiss her. You may not tell the audience that they're related in Star Wars, but you know it - and you avoid having them kiss.
